 Individual Project: Modeling, Texturing, Rendering

This piece was originally an assignment for my Modeling 2 class at University of Colorado Denver, where we were tasked with converting a famous car into a "Pixarized" counterpart. I chose to recreate the 1993 Ford Explorers from Jurassic Park, embarking on a deep dive search for parts listings from online retailers and movie enthusiasts to recreate as many accurate exterior details as possible.

Project Breakdown

All hard surface pieces were authored in Maya, using a purchased illustration from TheBlueprints.com to create the image planes for the model. The textures were created using Adobe Substance Painter, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Low resolution jpgs logos from the Jurassic Park movies were downloaded and then vectorized in Illustrator and then used as masks in Photoshop to create high fidelity movie accurate logos. The remainder of the car's body paint was hand painted in Substance Painter.  The Pixar car eyes were downloaded as jpgs and then edited in Photoshop before being applied in Substance Painter. The turntable was lit and rendered in Arnold.
